- NOVEMBER .::. QUIVER EARNS JHD TITLE
Well, Quiver and I went for the next level herding title and once again she passed with flying colors. Quiver earned her junior herding dog title (JHD) with AHBA in one weekend at the Turkey Trot trial at Keepstone Farm in Berryville, VA. That makes Quiver’s official name: Nottingham’s Quiver Full of Arrows CGC, TT, TDI, HCT-s, JHD-s. I’m so proud of this girl. And to think she is just 15 months old!

- OCTOBER .::. ISSDC SE BARKTOBER FEST
On October 22 and 23 the ISSDE South East chapter held a wonderful Barktober Fest Event at Caledonia State Park in Fayetteville, PA! What a gorgeous setting in the autumn, and the weather was beautiful. The event was an activity filled weekend with seminars, shows, TDI, CGC, TT testing and much, much more. There was an excellent turn-out and we had dogs showing in conformation, but also had a good number of dogs trying their hand at working endeavors like the Rally-O and agility course equipment set up. I was the CGC tester and Quiver was again my CGC helper. What a lovely, enjoyable, laid back event.

- SEPTEMBER .::. QUIVER EARNS TWO TITLES IN ONE WEEKEND
Quiver has amazed me again, we obtained two titles in one weekend. Her first title was earned at herding where she had to pass a herding capability test twice under two different judges. Quivs accomplished that and went on to earn her second title of the weekend, her TDI (Therapy Dog International certificate). What a weekend for our girl, we couldn’t have asked for more from her, she delivered!
We plan on continuing her training on sheep and once all the paperwork is filed for her TDI, she will be making visits and offering emotional support for those who need it.

- SEPTEMBER .::. NOTTINGHAM PUPPY PLAY DAY AND PICNIC
We’re always up for a good party and what better excuse than to invite our progeny and all our Shiloh friends over for a pot luck BBQ and pool party. We had a nice turnout for our September picnic and it was fun to watch all the Shilohs just milling around and some were checkin out the pool. Quiver spent most of the picnic in the pool, trying to entice other Shilohs to join her. Her littermate Lyra took the invitation and jumped right into the deep end and she swims just as gracefully as Quivs does. Some dogs would only wade, but they all seemed to enjoy the pool in some way or another, even if it was just running around it!
We thank all those who made it. What a lovely late September day!

- JULY .::. THE ISSDC SHILOH SHEPHERD NATIONALS
Nottingham Shilohs was again asked to provide CGC testing at the ISSDC Nationals, our second time doing so, and how could we refuse. It was probably the hottest day of the year but we all got through it and had a nice weekend. The Nationals were held in Southern NJ and Quiver, who is my goto CGC helper dog, and I made the trip. The Temperament Testing offered was also jam packed and it's nice to see more of this kind of testing available at Shiloh events.

- JUNE .::. PUPPY PLAYDATE
We had a wonderful playdate and picnic, and it was so nice to see so many of our progeny there. We went through hell and back to get the pool ready for the picnic, but it was worth it to watch the dogs. We hope to have several more of these over the summer/early fall!

- OCTOBER .::. WE PERMANENTLY WELCOME BABY SWISS
Welcome Baby Swiss, now named Quiver. Quiver is our “keeper” from our Elvis/Ember litter. Quiver fits into our Shiloh family just fabulously and we couldn't let this little cheeseball get away.

- SEPTEMBER .::. NOTTINGHAM SHILOHS IS ADDING TO THE CREW
We have decided to keep a girl from the Elvis/Ember litter. We haven’t decided who will be staying so be sure to check back to see who our new addition will be!

- SEPTEMBER .::. NOTTINGHAM SHILOHS IS MOVING
Nottingham Shilohs is happy to announce that they have found a new home! Right now we are in the process of expanding our homestead. We are staying in beautiful Loudoun County, Virginia and we are just moving down the street from our old house.
All the dogs have done a great job at coping with all the stress involved in packing and moving and they are doing great!

- AUGUST .::. WE HAVE PUPPIES
The Elvis/Ember litter has arrived and we have 11 stunning puppies! Ember went through a grueling 14 hours of labor and produced five sable boys and six girls (two bi-black/silver and four sables). We are seeing a wide array of sable colors in this litter from rich browns to dark grays. Of course we couldn’t be outdone by the herb names from Ember’s last litter so we have named our new puppies after cheeses. Please check back often to watch the new babies grow and to see what else we can create with our cheese puppies.

- JULY .::. KEEP UP WITH NOTTINGHAM SHILOHS
Nottingham Shilohs now has pages on Blogger, Facebook, Picasa and YouTube so you can keep up to date with all things Nottingham, well at least all things Nottingham Shilohs!

- JUNE .::. WE HAVE A PASSEL OF PUPPIES!
Our puppies are here! Ember went into labor on June 20, 2009 and has given us eight chubby puppies — seven girls and one boy and yes you read that right — SEVEN girls! Mom and her eight puppies (seven girls and one boy) are doing well. We are already in love with these puppies and look forward to our time together. We hope you enjoy our newborn photos and check back as we plan on sharing photos of the puppies as they grow.

- JUNE .::. WE’RE PREGNANT!
Our 30 days of tortured waiting are over. We were thinking Ember was pregnant, hoping Ember was pregnant, and hoping her weight gain just wasn't her binging while the rest of us were sleeping. So we took her in to have her ultrasound and we have confirmed that our little girl is pregnant.
We had bred Ember and Quinn at the end of April and then Em was a little off of her food. She would eat but not as well as usual and her belly looked huge (sorry Em, but it DID!). So in the process of ruling out a sudden abdominal mass or a huge spleen, we went in for testing. Of course I was laughed at since we had just bred Em I think the exact words were "you did breed her 3 weeks ago, what do you expect?" Still we did blood work, had an ultrasound done and it was confirmed that she has a belly full of puppies.
We are so excited and a bit nervous and just can't believe it. We can’t wait! This should be fun and tiring and a lot of work but so worth it. We will be taking her in for an x-ray to get a better puppy count soon! Puppies are due at the end of June!

- JUNE .::. DEAR DIARY ...
Ember now has a diary on our Nottingham Shilohs Blog! Keep up to date on Ember’s thoughts on being pregnant and life in general with her “Dear Diary” posts. You just never know what this girl is going to share with her diary!

- MAY .::. MUCH WINS!
At the ISSDC Nationals Much and I decided to compete in Rally-O. After one run-thru and several minutes of me brushing up on obedience with Much it was our turn to go. We navigated through the course and even performed the bonus exercise. Our run was good but was it good enough to beat the other Shilohs that were competing?
Shortly after everyone finished their runs, the judge tallied the scores and low and behold Much came away with the top score. He Won! We were presented with a beautiful trophy and ribbon so everyone could see what Much accomplished.
Yea Much! Now I have to seriously consider starting to train Much for Rally-O competitions along with Tuck and Ember.

- MAY .::. THE ISSDC SHILOH SHEPHERD NATIONALS
Nottingham Shilohs was asked to provide CGC testing at the ISSDC Nationals, and how could we refuse. The weekend came and what started out as a gloomy Saturday morning turned out to be a great Saturday afternoon. The Nationals were held in Lewisberry, PA and we was headed there with Much and our friend Nancy, who brought her dog Kaylee with us, as we were CGC evaluators for the CGC testing at the show. Once we arrived in Lewisberry the rain stopped and the sun started to peek out from behind the clouds. We tested several dogs and then were lucky enough to have some free time to socialize and watch the show. I got to connect with several people I have not seen in a while, find out the latest news and of course see all the new puppies and who doesn’t love puppies!?! I was even able to “steal” several dogs (thanks to my accomplice Jacki) to take pictures of, and of course I had to return them. All in all it was a very good day, and Much and I came home and slept the rest of the day away, dog tired from our day at the Nationals.

- APRIL .::. 30 DAYS OF TORTURED WAITING
Ember and Quinn had their date and despite it not going quite as planned we are hopeful Ember will have puppies! Unfortunately we won’t know if there are puppies until the end of May. We are keeping our fingers, toes and anything else that we can cross crossed. As soon as it is far enough along in the “pregnancy” Ember will have an ultrasound to see if there are puppies! We keep telling her to “grow babies in your belly” for us. Hopefully she will listen.

Shiloh Shepherds are incredibly smart dogs and although many of them have the amazing ability to be a couch potato many also exercising their brain and doing some work. Of course working traits vary from dog to dog and litter to litter but with the right motivation, their will to please you, some fun and patience you and your Shiloh Shepherd can enjoy a rewarding working relationship together.
|
We’ve tried a variety of types of work from therapy, to obedience, to agility, to tracking and we find our each of our Shilohs respond to different disciplines.
Currently our top working disciplines are sheep herding and rally-o!
